We Got You a Christmas Present

It's root beer ham.

Everything You Need for Christmas Eve and Day

It's the season of a lot of things: Giving, love and giant platters of spiral-cut ham. As you make plans for Christmas and beyond, there are plenty of recipes from New York Times Cooking to build new traditions around. Christmas Day can be a marathon of meals, with breakfast and dinner being of equal importance in many households. So start the day with Jerrell Guy's eggnog overnight French toast and end it with Eric Kim's root beer ham (above) or Alexa Weibel's mushroom Wellington. But don't get ahead of yourself: There's still the night before to think about, too. Christmas Eve can mean tamales, borscht or an ocean's worth of fishes depending where and how you celebrate. Or perhaps a cookie assembly line is part of the plan: Be sure to get Sohla El-Waylly's brown-butter toffee sandwich cookies in the rotation. And most importantly, have a happy holiday.
